Summer movies are here!

It's that time of year! Summer!
Warm weather, water play, longer days,no school, blockbuster summer movies..
Today we joined hundreds if not thousands of people who tuned into watch the new Transformer movie. It was sold out last night at midnight.
Overall, awesome! One of the best movies I've seen in awhile! Oh, I've seen some that made me cry, or made me more aware of a life situation, some that I've laughed at... but today. Man, it was fun!
I remember Transformers from when I was a kid. It was a big boy thing, but there were several of us girls that liked them also. I remember having a small one that folded down into a jeep. Fun stuff. Back then, I had to imagine the adventures.
Today, man, the special effects were dazzling! The sound effects were right on target. The story line was great, with comedy sprinkled in to keep the scene going. We were all on the edge of our seat rooting for the good guys all the way through! Good stuff!

Overall, it was fabulous and spectacular. It called up all sorts of emotions in the audience as a whole,as a well written one should. Good conquers over evil, there were many lessons to be learned.. I'm focusing on those, and some of those special effects! Wow!

Following Through

Over the past few days, I've been so disappointed. Why? Because of folks that say they will do something, and then don't. No courtesy call, nothing. Did they fall off the edge of the earth? No.
Hmmm. How hard is it to call and say you can't make it, or better yet, don't promise something that you have no intention of doing? The preparation that goes into a meeting, or someone coming over, that shouldn't be ignored.
I've recently been told that this happens not only in the private sector, but also in business. Employers are actually looking for people that will do what they say they will do. I heard one say, "If I could just get folks to come in on time." Seriously? How is it that this person is still employed?
Really? In this economy, there are folks that don't have a job, that need a job, that can't find a job. And now I'm told that there are individuals out there that don't have the morals to give their "employer" the due time they are paying for? Wow!
As a parent, I try to shelter the boys from other folks "inadequacies". (I'm good at excusing bad behavior for others). We all have bad days, right? I mean, I'm no saint, and don't claim to be. However, I will call someone if I'm going to be late, I will leave early for an appointment just to help me make it on time.
The boys as most kids, are able to point out the "character flaws" all on their own.
For instance, I had a birthday this weekend. No biggie. Part of that time was to be spent with some friends. Well, seems that one friend was going to be stopping by the house with a gift, and wanted to spend some time with me. Yay! I was excited and ready to hang out. What happened? You guessed it.. no show. I call, and she has decided that she is out and about. I can see her if I want to come out and shop too.
My middle schooler says," Mom you know how she is, we never know if she will come or not, EVER!" He happens to care if she comes, as he is best buds with her son. IF she comes, so does he and the happiness begins. There have been numerous occassions where those two (boys) were to get together, just for them to never show up. When called on it, there were a million excuses, if I can get her on the phone.. Since this has become an occurance, we just call it ____(insert her name) time. Meaning... Tell her something starts at about 30ish minutes before it does so she will only be an hour or so late..or you have a better chance of winning the lottery than actually getting her to show up or do what she said she would do. Or meaning that she is obviously in her own time zone, as the one she said she would meet me in is out of her area of service apparently! hmmm.
I think the boys are learning this lesson. We are desperately trying to show them how hurtful that can be. How valued folks are - that are dependable! When following through, keeping up with the words you proclaim, lets folks know what is important to them. Your busines, your friendship, your time.

Tough Love

Being a mother of two boys, I'm learning all sorts of definitions and expressions of love according to a boy.

Big brother to little brother as overheard by me!

If I hit you -- it means I'm saying hi.
If U hit me --- it means that you are mean and deserve a big punch back.

If I take something special to you -- it means that I want you to play with me.
If U take something special to me -- it means that you asked for another punch.

If I leave you with no toilet paper -- it means that I am teasing you..
If U leave me with no toilet paper -- it means I whine to MOM until you get in trouble.

If I go into your room without permission -- it means I just like to be in your space.
If U go into my room without permission -- you are invading and putting your germs everywhere.

If I don't want you to play with me -- I mean it I don't want you to play with me.
If U act like you don't want to play with me -- it means that I bug you until you complain to Mom or hit me.

There are more, but we soooo busted MOM listening in. She can't possibly understand, because she is so a GIRL!

Camp

Our Middle school son has just come home from camp. He is so hype! What fun he had! He got to spend time worshiping with his peers,go play paintball had fun pillowfights, got to swim in a lake, stay up late, eat all sorts of teen food... memories!
A few of his friends rededicated thier lives to Christ. Awesome!
Meanwhile on the homestead our little man got to have his parents and neighborhood friends all to himself.
He did have to endure a short shopping trip to Nashville with MOM and adopted Aunt. He did so well, he was rewarded with a new Wii game, 007. He has picked up a new talent, hip hop. Fun stuff! Last night we sat with friends at their pool watching their son and ours get their groove on! They were so cute! I need to video it..
Let's see, he also got to eat Hondurian food...fun stuff.
He has been taken out to eat, and slept in, and basically had peace.
Both boys missed each other not that they will admit it - much.
I missed not having us all under one roof.
Time to go ref the arguing going on in the other room!

Hello!

Wow! I can't believe its been a month since I lasted posted. Life is busy!
That's a good thing! The boys are home from school, the Lord has blessed me this summer by being able to stay home with them! I haven't done that in several years!

Lots of information there!

Outside of this.. Our oldest is gone to camp in Alabama. Fun stuff! He is having fun with his church group. Our youngest...he has sports camps, a dance camp, (hip hop), and tutoring.

Busy schedule, but it is so great to get the time with them! Getting to know the boys even better by being involved in their days, not just hearing about them.
